happy 33rd birthday to me


for my 33rd birthday today, my lovely wife made me this sweet ipod cake. if any of you know of my love affair with my ipod, you'll know that this is an appropriate cake for me. however, my ipod hasn't really been working recently, as it only keeps it charge for about 3 songs before it dies. not to mention that i can't fit any more music on it without cutting a bunch of music out. which i don't want to do.

and so my gift from shannon (other than the yummy crab cake dinner she made me) was a new ipod. thank you, shannon! i will be rockin' out to even more tunes soon! thanks for all the birthday wishes over at facebook. you guys are the best.

you have the best wife ever! but might i make a suggestion... never ever put your ipod in the seat pocket in front of you on an airplane. ask scott about that and his lack of an ipod ;-)

so i read this blog again because mom and dad said that you told everybody that you got a new Ipod on it...and so i read it again...and it is ambiguous whether or not she actually got you a real ipod...or just an ipod cake. so i felt better for not knowing that you got an actual ipod! glad you did :)

happiness is dry underwear

we started potty training jack on thursday. we followed a program called POTTY TRAIN IN ONE DAY, which, by the way, i think is kind of crazy. i mean, if someone were to offer you a book called, "ACHIEVE WORLD PEACE IN ONE DAY" i don't think you would take it seriously. and yet here we are, trying to accomplish an equally daunting task in one 24-hour period. it is intense. the day is shrouded in a lie because as soon as your happily diapered child wakes up you tell him that it is a big party. we had balloons and streamers and noisemakers and silly string - all the trappings of a legitimate party. but it is most certainly not a party. it is a hellishly exhausting day. as soon as jack got out of bed, we gave him a present: an anatomically correct doll that wets himself. jack named him quincy. several times quincy successfully peed in the potty and even had an accident or two in his "big boy underwear." he also dropped a deuce that looked and smelled sus...
