read the belly

that's it. just 8 weeks (maybe even a little less) until a new milinovich gets squeezed into this world. we've been preparing: i finished painting the nursery this weekend. we've whittled the name list down from about 25 names to 10. we are going to the hospital this weekend to get everything squared away there. we have been trying to teach jack about 'baby brother' and we will be giving him a babydoll soon, so he can learn what it is to take care of a baby. we have been freezing meals, so shannon doesn't have to cook once the baby is born (and she also doesn't have to eat cup-a-soup every day, since that is all i know how to cook). anyway, the pages on the calendar keep turning, and the months have been dwindling down to weeks. read the belly: the baby is coming soon!

ps. i might be in big trouble because i absolutely did not ask shannon's permission to include pictures of her bare belly on my blog. oops...

I love pregnant bellies!! I guess I will love them until I have one myself and have trouble sleeping and have to pee frequently and all the other things I've heard about. But until then, I still think they're totally adorable.

shannon is so cute - but i am wondering how she's scheming to kill you for posting the pics w/o her permission!

i was just showing my friend heidi these pictures because i though they were adorable. and then she goes "i would kill my husband if he put pictures of my like that online." i was defending you "oh no he definitely would ask her permission first, he's not an idiot." then i scrolled down. heidi asked me to tell you she hopes you enjoy the couch. haha.
at least shannon is absolutely gorgeous!

ok folks, i feel the need to defend myself here:

look, i didn't ask her, but she had me write on her belly and take the pictures with the intent to eventually put them in our scrapbook, so, since most of you are people who will eventually look at our scrapbook anyway, i figured i was just speeding up the process. i did stand just out of slapping distance when i showed it to her, but she didn't even take a swing. see, i know how gracious she is, so i figured i was alright. but thanks for all of your concern...

It was a non-toxic marker, right?

-just curious

oh, we didn't think about that. we used dyed rat poison. do you think that was a problem?

thanks for your concern. it was face paint. non-toxic. safe for bellies and faces and for writing "steelers rule" on your own arms, but that is a whole 'nother story.

bad haircuts (for a laugh)

everybody needs to laugh.  one good way i have found to make that happen is to do a simple google image search for 'bad haircut.'  when you do so, some of the following gems show up.  thankfully, my 9th grade school picture does NOT show up.  otherwise, it would certianly make this list!  please laugh freely and without inhibition.  thank you and have a nice day.

happiness is dry underwear

we started potty training jack on thursday. we followed a program called POTTY TRAIN IN ONE DAY, which, by the way, i think is kind of crazy. i mean, if someone were to offer you a book called, "ACHIEVE WORLD PEACE IN ONE DAY" i don't think you would take it seriously. and yet here we are, trying to accomplish an equally daunting task in one 24-hour period. it is intense. the day is shrouded in a lie because as soon as your happily diapered child wakes up you tell him that it is a big party. we had balloons and streamers and noisemakers and silly string - all the trappings of a legitimate party. but it is most certainly not a party. it is a hellishly exhausting day. as soon as jack got out of bed, we gave him a present: an anatomically correct doll that wets himself. jack named him quincy. several times quincy successfully peed in the potty and even had an accident or two in his "big boy underwear." he also dropped a deuce that looked and smelled sus...

i'm giving away the swamp

so this is a collage called swamp. i made it in february of last year. it is currently framed in a homemade, hand-painted frame. it is paper collage on a book binding panel. it is 7" x 10". and i am giving it away. i've been wanting to have a blog giveaway for some time, and the time has finally arrived. here's how it works. all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. by leaving a comment you are automatically entered into the contest (as long as your comment offers a way for me to get in touch with you, or you know that i know you). the contest will be open until next wednesday at noon, eastern standard time. at that time the contest will officially be closed and i will pick a random number. the person whose comment matches that number wins! for example, if i happen to pick the number 33, the thirty-third comment will win. oh, and one more rule: you can only post ONCE. if you win, i will send you the collage, signed by me, the artist, free of c...
