shad fest


well, its saturday, and i have a few things on my mind this morning, not the least of which is that a couple dozen people will be here today for cade's first birthday party. we're not really into the big birthday thing, but we figured that the first one is kind of a big deal, so we had a big one for friends and family for jack, and now here we are with cade.
but birthday is not the only thing on my mind. there are other things as well. like:
i have to remember to go pick up the fried chicken.
oops i left the grill cover off last night. i've got to remember to put that back on. not now, i'm blogging.
the nfl draft starts today. the steelers better make a good pick at number 23.
i like this song (let down by radiohead).
its cold in here.
i wonder if shannon needs anything else at the grocery store.
i wish i had time to get down to the shadfest (see the website here). shadfest is a local art/food festival in lambertville, nj, not very far from here. art locals only, the site that displays my art online, has a booth there and will be displaying 15 of my collages. this is kind of a first for me, so i'm pretty excited about it. however, its going to be a crazy day, so i'm not sure i'll be able to get down there at all. still, i'm excited about the chance to have some of my stuff seen today.

There's nothing better than a good shad festival.

happiness is dry underwear

we started potty training jack on thursday. we followed a program called POTTY TRAIN IN ONE DAY, which, by the way, i think is kind of crazy. i mean, if someone were to offer you a book called, "ACHIEVE WORLD PEACE IN ONE DAY" i don't think you would take it seriously. and yet here we are, trying to accomplish an equally daunting task in one 24-hour period. it is intense. the day is shrouded in a lie because as soon as your happily diapered child wakes up you tell him that it is a big party. we had balloons and streamers and noisemakers and silly string - all the trappings of a legitimate party. but it is most certainly not a party. it is a hellishly exhausting day. as soon as jack got out of bed, we gave him a present: an anatomically correct doll that wets himself. jack named him quincy. several times quincy successfully peed in the potty and even had an accident or two in his "big boy underwear." he also dropped a deuce that looked and smelled sus...
