coming into the closet

so this is a picture of shannon's closet. i only dare post such a picture because she happens to currently be on her best behavior. in fact, she is on such good behavior, that you probably didn't even need me to tell you that it is a picture of a closet. this is not "normal" in our house.

normally, if you were to venture into that part of our bedroom that gets loosely named "closet," you would think you were in a war-torn land, ravaged by bombs and evil violence. there would be women's garments and children's toys and old towels and random shoes strewn about the place. you would leave that place immediately, afraid either that a weapon of mess destruction (so clever) was about to be discovered, or that you would be swallowed up in a quicksand of clothing and hangers. either way, you would not call it a closet. minefield, maybe. but not closet.

but now you can call it a closet. you see, we are having a baby, so greg is losing his closet so that we can hang little miniature boy clothes in it. so shannon had to consolidate her closet to half its size, so that i could move in to the area. i mean, please realize that there are UN sanctions for this kind of thing. the situation is being monitered closely. surveillance and security. hidden cameras and sirens.

yeah, there is my half of the closet. for now, the area is spectacular. pristine. and, it's been two days! so this is a major accomplishment. but the time is coming, sayeth the author, when there will no longer be neatness and order; there will be an end to hangers actually being used and the ability to see the floor.

for now, though, please enjoy the closet. just don't get comfortable.

I honestly don't know how either of you could go through with that. i would have thought you would have pulled out your new chain saw to make a new closet before you actually took the plunge. good luck my brother....oh and be nice in the sharing.

well, it took sacrifice on both of our parts. but, we've shared before, so we figured we can do it again. i just may need aforementioned chain saw from time to time to even cross the threshold as towering piles of clothing will bar the entrance. if you see my walking around in just t-shirts and boxers, you will understand why (even if i can't access the closet, i can still get to my dresser. hey, maybe i should keep an emergency pair of pants in there 'just in case.'). alrighty then.

You don't hear alot about coming into the close these days.

If I remember correctly you are the clothes horse of the family - true or not?

Also - I thought you were a neatnick? - at least I know the CD's were arranged alphabetically and not to be touched incorrectly - does the neatness not apply to the closet or is the messiness going to be a result of sharing with Shannon.

hmmm, I've been in the closet lately, too. rearranging things. there's just so much stuff. too much stuff. luckily, I don't have to give up any of MY precious closet space.

sounds like a lot of nesting going around lately!

I wish our closets were big enough to arrange and allow for a mess. Let me just remind you how lucky you are to have a closet with SPACE! They say every closet is a walk-in if you try hard enough, "they" are lying ("they" are real estate agents by the way). One of ours is definitely NOT big enough to stand in, let alone try to hang our pants in it. Yup, that's how our closets are seperated, not by his and hers, but by pants and shirts. Oh, to have a closet big enough to hang both in...

And now, weeks after this was posted, I'm interested in a closet update? (I heard rumors) And I'm checking to see if anyone ever goes back to read old posts??? Hey, Greg, if you do, did you see Bill's comment on "what's in a name?"

bad haircuts (for a laugh)

everybody needs to laugh.  one good way i have found to make that happen is to do a simple google image search for 'bad haircut.'  when you do so, some of the following gems show up.  thankfully, my 9th grade school picture does NOT show up.  otherwise, it would certianly make this list!  please laugh freely and without inhibition.  thank you and have a nice day.

happiness is dry underwear

we started potty training jack on thursday. we followed a program called POTTY TRAIN IN ONE DAY, which, by the way, i think is kind of crazy. i mean, if someone were to offer you a book called, "ACHIEVE WORLD PEACE IN ONE DAY" i don't think you would take it seriously. and yet here we are, trying to accomplish an equally daunting task in one 24-hour period. it is intense. the day is shrouded in a lie because as soon as your happily diapered child wakes up you tell him that it is a big party. we had balloons and streamers and noisemakers and silly string - all the trappings of a legitimate party. but it is most certainly not a party. it is a hellishly exhausting day. as soon as jack got out of bed, we gave him a present: an anatomically correct doll that wets himself. jack named him quincy. several times quincy successfully peed in the potty and even had an accident or two in his "big boy underwear." he also dropped a deuce that looked and smelled sus

the crucifixion of Robert Lewis

"the crucifixion of Robert Lewis" mixed media collage with leaves, acrylic paint, and found objects by gregory a milinovich october 2023 this october i was invited to participate in a three day trip which was called a "pilgrimage of pain and hope."  while that may not sound super exciting to many of you, it actually really intrigued me.  i am the kind of person that wants to feel big feelings, and i am drawn to the deep places, so  i was interested in traveling to the scranton area, where the trip was planned, to see what it might look like to be a pilgrim that was wide-eyed and listening to the pain and the hope in the stories of others.   this trip included hearing the stories of immigrants to the northeastern pennsylvania area, and the work in the coal mines that many of them did.  it included hearing from folks who are working for housing justice and equity in downtown scranton.  it included hearing from those indigenous people who first inhabited that land.
